Shipping and delivery
Everything we make is made to order in our workshop, so every order has a production time first and a shipping time after it. Here is how delivery works, wherever you are.
Production first
Each product page shows how long it takes to make, beneath the Add to Cart button. Shipping time starts after production is complete.
Working days
Working days do not include weekends or Bank Holidays. Our workshop and our couriers do not operate on those days.
Estimates only
Delivery times are courier estimates, not guarantees. We are not liable for courier delays outside our control.
UK delivery
Shipped via Royal Mail or DPD UK depending on parcel size, weight and destination. The options available for your order are shown at checkout; if a courier is not listed, your order is not eligible for that service due to size or weight restrictions.
| Service | Aims to deliver | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| DPD UK | 1 to 2 working days from dispatch | No deliveries on Saturdays, Sundays or Bank Holidays. Non-mainland UK and some postcodes take longer. If your postcode is not serviced by a particular DPD service, we will contact you to arrange an alternative courier or offer a refund. |
| Royal Mail 24 | Next working day after dispatch | Target only, not guaranteed by Royal Mail. |
| Royal Mail 48 | Within 2 working days of dispatch | Target only, not guaranteed by Royal Mail. |
| Royal Mail Large Letter | Standard post | Gift vouchers and greetings cards only. |
| Royal Mail Special Delivery | Guaranteed day and time | Not offered as standard. For time-sensitive orders email support@theblackenedteeth.com with the subject line Special Delivery. |
Royal Mail 24 and 48 delivery times are targets only. The Blackened Teeth is not liable for deliveries that fall outside these timeframes, and Royal Mail does not offer compensation for delays against these service targets.
International delivery
Couriers are Royal Mail (USPS in the USA) and UPS. Estimated times are shown at checkout beside each option.
| Destination | Estimated delivery | Duties and taxes |
|---|---|---|
| USA, Canada and Mexico | 2 to 10 working days, depending on service | Apply, depending on the service chosen. Choose a DDP service at checkout to pay them upfront. |
| European Union | 2 to 10 working days, depending on courier | DDP and DDU options available. A fixed EU customs duty of €3 per item category applies to parcels valued at €150 or less (see below). EU free shipping (orders over €125) is not DDP. |
| Australia | 7 to 10 working days | May apply unless a DDP service is selected. |
| Rest of world | 7 to 10 working days | May apply. Paid to the courier on arrival. |
Customs and import taxes, all international orders (including Ireland)
- Buyers are responsible for any customs fees, duties or import taxes unless a DDP service is selected.
- Couriers will contact the recipient directly using the details provided at checkout.
- We are not responsible for delays caused by customs clearance or unpaid fees.
EU customs duty from 1 July 2026
Since 1 July 2026, all parcels entering the EU valued at €150 or less are subject to a fixed EU customs duty of €3 per item category, following the removal of the EU low-value import exemption. An order containing more than one type of product may attract this charge more than once.
Where a DDP service is selected, this is settled in advance and included in the price you pay at checkout. Where a DDU service is selected, it will be collected from you by the courier alongside any import VAT and handling fees.
Duties paid or duties unpaid?
Since 29 August 2025, US customs regulations require that all parcels entering the USA are subject to import duties and taxes, regardless of value, and from 1 July 2026 the EU applies the fixed duty described above. To give you the choice, we offer both options at checkout for the USA and the EU. Please read carefully, as the responsibilities differ. We cannot change a DDU shipment to DDP after an order has been placed.

Cheaper at checkout, charges follow
Delivery Duties Unpaid (DDU)
- Duties, taxes and customs fees are not included in the checkout price
- They are the sole responsibility of the recipient
- The courier (UPS) will contact you directly for payment
- Payment must be made before delivery can be completed
- Failure to pay will result in return or refusal, as set out below
Services: UPS Express DDU.
Unpaid duties, refused or returned parcels
If a DDU shipment is not paid for when the courier requests it, is refused, is returned to sender for non-payment, or fails after multiple delivery attempts, the following applies.
What happens
- The shipment is returned to us at the courier's discretion.
- Return shipping, re-import duties, taxes and carrier charges are incurred.
- These costs are not refundable and are deducted from any refund.
- The customer remains responsible for the original shipping cost.
- If return costs exceed the order value, the shipment may be abandoned and no refund issued.
Refunds and chargebacks
- Refunds are not automatic for refused or returned DDU shipments.
- Any refund is processed only after the goods are received back and all carrier charges are confirmed, and is issued less all shipping, return, customs and carrier fees.
- We cannot intervene in customs or duty payment requests on behalf of the recipient.
- Chargebacks raised for non-payment of duties, refused deliveries or failure to accept a shipment will be disputed using carrier records and delivery attempts.
